Pope the time has come for the Church to implement optional Celibacy a choice for those who want the be ordained as celibate and those who want to be ordained as married clergy. There is also room for engaging those men who chose laicization to be brought into the discussion if they resigned to engage in the sacrament of marriage. I cannot understand why you and the bishops can stand idly in the stands and accept the dwindling church to continue in this spiraling path. You are the Peter who has been given the keys it is incumbent on you to find ways to unlock the doors. Keeping them shut is not a choice. Always Leonardo
ReplyDeleteI agree 100%. I think we (CORPUS Members, Federation of Christian Ministries, Individuals) need to approach the Pope, together, expressing these sentiments. I am ordained 60 yrs and have been doing lots of God-centered work for most of that time. I am about to request a "release" from the clerical life - I resigned from my diocese in 1976 with no request for "laicization" which I consider a disease. Have been married for 42 years. Now 88+ yrs of age.
