The misinformation and lies filtering through social media and coming from politicians and prominent individuals are causing pain, disrupting families and causing inappropriate actions are destructive of society. Freedom of speech was established to allow people to speak truth to power and was not intended to allow the immoral individuals to manipulate others. We as a nation need to set straight the intent of the 1st amendment which covers government, but we need to go further by insisting that all elements of our society stick to the truth. We need to say that in our homes, workplaces, our churches and our communications with others. As a society we need truth to function.
