Book review: James Carroll appears intent on creating a new category of former Catholics. He seems not so much a fallen away Catholic as a partial walk away — a Catholic who doesn't just drift away quietly instead raises a ruckus.

    Perhaps people like James Carroll might use "non-Roman Catholic" to describe themselves. I have used it in recent times when I answer the question "What is your religion?".
