Zoom Meeting Will Keep You Up-to-Date, As Discussion about Women Deacons Continues
Phyllis Zagano, PhD., an internationally recognized expert on the history of the women's diaconate in the Catholic Church is hosting a Zoom meeting on women deacons, and you are invited.

Dr. Phyllis Zagano, who will speak at Voice of the Faithful 2020 Conference, awarded grant to study women deacons

The National Philanthropic Trust has awarded Phyllis Zagano, Ph.D., senior research associate-in-residence and adjunct professor of religion at Hofstra University, a $150,000 grant so she may continue her research into the history of Catholic women deacons.

Dr. Zagano has researched and written extensively on the historical, theological, canonical, sociological, ecclesiological dimensions of the question of women deacons. In 2016 she was appointed to the Pontifical Commission for the Study of the Diaconate of Women.

Dr. Zagano will be a featured speaker at Voice of the Faithful's 2020 Conference: Visions of a Just Church, which takes place Oct. 3, 2020, at the Boston Marriott Newton Hotel. She was also recently interviewed by the Washington Times for an article, U.S. Catholics wary of panel that will study idea of women as deacons, and the National Catholic Reporter Several members of new Vatican commission appear opposed to women deacons.
