Why the Catholic Church needs two different kinds of priesthood
The authors apparently have not read "Deconstructing Sacramental Theology and Reconstructing Catholic Ritual" in which I prove (yes, prove, beyond any historical doubt) that the Church's sacramental doctrines have no basis in Scripture or in the writings of the early Fathers. Therefore there is no such thing as a sacramental character, and there is no ontological difference between someone who is ordained and someone who is not. The belief that Catholic sacramental doctrine is based on Revelation and patristic teachings is based on the unquestioned acceptance of medieval authors such as Thomas Aquinas who, as it turns out, misinterpreted both biblical and patristic texts.
